Goldsmiths competition - Tramp project

For this brief i was asked to design a set of contemporary wedding jewellery

i decided that i wanted to make something that was the complete opposite to what modern day wedding jewellery is like by relating it to grime and dirt; finally decieding that i was going to base the jewellery on Tramps, as this was the grimiest extreme i could think of.

i then explored ideas and concepts that we associate with tramps, beer cans, greasy hair, dirty clothes etc before i chose holey socks to be my main focus!

after looking at the holey sock, i tried to re-create the appearence of the sock through weaving and knitting tehniques in wire - one of my main inspirations was Arelene Fisch

Final Piece

Finished piece: after adding a focal point i used the knitting on a larger scale to create a wedding piece

Found object

Jubille grip!

For this project we were asked to create a final piece, that had developed from our chosen found object.

i looked at the shapes and forms that my found object (Jubille grip) had by using cubist techniques of overlaying and repeating my drawings, then exploring them in paper to create new distorted forms.

Final Pieces

After exploring the shapes in paper, i took them into metal, using copper and flux to create patterns on the pieces.

Chimmneys

First year - Architectural project

Chimmneys being my inspiration, I became interested in the repeated circles that were created when you look at groups of chimmneys, creating composistins and layers from them.

Final piece
From these composistions and looking at flower, clusters and bud forms, I used paper layering to create this flower brooch.
materials used: paper dipped in wax, sewn together

Just displaying my work, hate it or love it i want to know what you think!
